Bringing your dog to Naples
Collier County beaches don't allow dogs, but there's a dog beach 30 minutes away, two off-leash parks nearby, and state parks with leashed trails. Plus heat safety and the nearest emergency vet.

Naples is a great trip for dogs as long as you know the rules. The big one: dogs aren't allowed on Collier County or City of Naples beaches. Here's where they can go.
Beaches: the rules
- Collier County beaches, including Vanderbilt, Clam Pass, Barefoot Beach, Tigertail and South Marco, don't allow dogs. Fines start at $50. The county's own answer to "is there a dog beach?" is "Not in Collier County."
- City of Naples beaches and parks also prohibit animals.
- Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park allows leashed pets in designated areas only, not on the beach.
- Service animals are allowed. Emotional-support animals don't count as service animals under park rules.
Dog Beach, Bonita Springs
Lee County's Dog Beach is the closest place your dog can swim in the Gulf. It's a tidal flat: at mid to high tide you wade out to reach the sand, so plan for low tide if you can. There are portable toilets only, and no lifeguards or staff. Glass, alcohol, fires and grilling aren't allowed. Lee County lists it with its dog parks, which require a collar with a valid license, so bring your dog's tags.
Off-leash dog parks
Rover Run Dog Park
One of Collier County's two official off-leash dog parks. It was briefly closed for maintenance in August 2026 and has reopened. Call (239) 252-4682 for current conditions.
Golden Gate Paws Park
The county's other off-leash park. Call (239) 252-6128 for hours.
Everywhere else in county parks, dogs must be on a leash of 6 feet or less, and they aren't allowed on playgrounds, ball fields, courts or beaches.
Leashed walks in state parks
- Koreshan State Park (~25–30 min): leashed pets in the campground and designated areas.
- Collier-Seminole State Park (~35–40 min): leashed pets on paved surfaces and nature trails.
Eating out with your dog
The City of Naples lets restaurants allow dogs on outdoor patios, but only with a special city permit and posted signs. Not every patio has one, so ask before you sit down.
Heat safety
- Never leave a dog in a parked car. On a 70°F day the inside can pass 110°F, and cracked windows don't help. Collier County park rules also prohibit leaving dogs in vehicles.
- Walk early or after sunset, and bring water and shade everywhere.
- Short-nosed breeds overheat faster.
- Signs of heatstroke: heavy panting, drooling, unsteadiness, unusual gum color, collapse. Head to a vet. On the way, put room-temperature wet towels on the neck, armpits and groin, and use a fan. Don't use ice water.
